Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle on Saratoga, Corpus Christi police say

A man is dead after attempting to cross Saratoga Boulevard on foot in the early morning of Nov. 3.

Corpus Christi police were dispatched to the 3900 block of Saratoga Boulevard at 4:49 a.m. in reference to a major traffic crash involving a pedestrian, according to Corpus Christi Police Department senior officer Antonio Contreras.

They found the man in the road when they arrived, he said. Corpus Christi Fire Department medics arrived and began providing aid to the man.

They took him to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Contreras said.

Traffic investigators determined during their initial investigation that the man had not crossed the boulevard at a crosswalk and that a vehicle traveling west struck him while he was in the road, the officer said.

The driver stayed at the scene, Contreras said. Officer Madeline Vaughn said the driver was not charged or cited.
