Award winning choreographer and music artist Paula Abdul will be the keynote speaker at the 31st Annual YWCA Women’s Luncheon in April.
The YWCA Luncheon, the biggest fundraiser for the YWCA, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at the El Paso convention center.
Abdul is a beloved pop culture icon with a long-standing career in entertainment, dance and television. She rose to fame with her breakout debut album ‘Forever Your Girl’, producing six No. 1 singles including “Straight Up” and “Opposites Attract.” It sold more than 60 million records.
She also was a popular judge on “American Idol” as an original panel member. She’s continued mentoring new generations of artists on “So You Think You Can Dance,” “The X Factor” and “Live to Dance.”
Before becoming a global pop star, Abdul made her mark as part of the famed LA Lakers cheerleading squad, the Laker Girls, and became the team’s head choreographer.
A committed humanitarian, she finds purpose in advocacy, particularly in support of animal rights, arts education through her work with American Humane, and Turnaround Arts, according to a YWCA news release.
YWCA El Paso positively impacts 26,000 lives each year, made possible by the generous supporters of our annual Women’s Luncheon. Each year, women and men across El Paso gather for an afternoon of inspiration and to learn more about YWCA’s important mission and programming.
“For over 117 years, the strength of our community has sustained our mission,” said YWCA CEO Sereka Barlow in the release. “We are proudly grateful for your support, which empowers us to grow, serve, and make a lasting difference. Women’s Luncheon is a celebration of being stronger together.”
Attendees can sign up as a Benefactress, Grande Dame, Grand Homme, Table Captain, or purchase a seat at ywcaelpaso.org or by emailing womensluncheon@ywcaelpaso.org.
