There’s a substantial train of thought perusing through Cowboys Nation, both fans and media, that Jerry Jones is trying to manipulate Micah Parsons. Jones of course is in the middle of another contentious negotiation with his star edge rusher, following suit with the dance he had with QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb last offseason, and many other players in years past. Things have deteriorated to the point that Parsons has publicly stated he no longer wants to be with the Cowboys, requesting a trade, and on Friday he scrubbed all mentions of the Cowboys from his social media accounts.
This latest change is a reaction to a whirlwind media tour that Jones has been on, using the premiere of the Netflix documentary to take any and all opportunities to besmirch Parsons’ agent David Mulugheta for interfering in what Jones claims was a gentleme, the pleading to come in and talk one-on-one and leave the agent behind and see the tactics. What many might not have anticipated in the circus show was Jones interacting with Parsons’ mom, but that happened, too.
None other than Parsons’ brother Terrence, broke the news on social media.
Parsons has been sitting out this preseason, including Friday’s finale against the Atlanta Falcons, while holding-in during training camp practices. He is set to play on the fifth-year option for 2025 if no contract extension can be agreed to.
