New details after former Frenship aide arrested on voyeurism charge

A 36-year-old former Legacy Elementary special education aide was arrested Thursday, accused of exposing a 7-year-old student’s chest while making inappropriate comments during class.

T’Nae Harrell was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a state jail felony count of voyeurism involving a child younger than 18 on school premises, which carries a punishment of six months to two years in jail.

Her bond is set at $50,000.

Her charges stem from a Frenship ISD police investigation into a May 4 report that Harrell exposed a 7-year-old student’s bare chest to other students during class the week before, according to court records.

Staff members reported that Harrell commented on the student’s body before calling the child over and her shirt to expose her chest, then turning the girl to another staff member as she compared the child to a “porn star,” the documents state.

The abuse was recorded by the classroom’s security cameras and Harrell reportedly admitted to the abuse, the documents state.

Harrell was immediately removed from the classroom and put on leave, according to a Frenship news release.

Meanwhile, school officials contacted the girl’s family and also notified parents of the investigation, the release states.

Police on Thursday obtained a warrant for Harrell’s arrest and she was apprehended at a home in New Deal.

“Reported behavior such as this is unacceptable and deeply concerning and goes against everything Frenship ISD stands for,” reads a news release from Frenship. “Creating a safe learning environment for all students is our top priority, and we take these investigations very seriously. We have made additional resources available for our students, parents, and staff and will continue to support our families through this difficult time. “
