The first of several new ice cream shops is set to open next month in Lubbock, along with an ice cream truck this summer. Here’s what to know about the upcoming Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream.
Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream, a Pittsburgh-based franchise, officially confirmed their first Texas-based franchising partner and the first Lubbock location’s opening timeline. The franchisees are Sami and Kasey Toivola of Lubbock County, according to the news release.
“Like most good things, we found Millie’s by accident,” Sami Toivola said. “I was helping the Disposables merchandising organization in my ‘day job’ last spring and saw two nearly identical brand codes in the system – Millie for Millie’s Kitchen and Millies for Millie’s Ice Cream – both supplying Paper Cups. The Ice Cream part piqued my curiosity and after 10 months, here we are ready to open our first Millie’s scoop shop in Lubbock.”
What is Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream, menu?
Millie’s specializes in grass-fed dairy ice creams and dairy-free gelato available by scoop and pint. It also offers homemade waffle cones, shakes, sundaes, and a full coffee and tea bar. Another signature of Millie’s is their menu options for vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-free.
The dairy for the ice cream company is sourced from Twin Brook Dairy Company in Western Pennsylvania.
“Sami and Kasey just get it – their passion and excitement for that nostalgic, honest flavor of Millie’s ice cream reminds Lauren and I of ourselves,” said Chad Townsend, Millie’s co-founder with his wife Lauren Townsend. “Their energy is exactly what we need to bring our scoops to a new market.”
Where is Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream Lubbock?
The first location will open at 11421 Slide Road, within The Shops at 114.Slide. It will have a drive-thru.
When will Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream Lubbock open?
The first location will open in early May, and the vintage ice cream truck will be available for mobile sales, events and catering in the summer. The release hinted that more locations are planned.
