Man accused of assault, arrested after Randall County SWAT standoff

A man suspected in a domestic incident was taken into custody after he was accused of barricading himself in a residence Saturday in Randall County, authorities said.

The Randall County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 to 1115 Prescott in reference to a third-party report of a domestic disturbance. While deputies were on their way to the scene, they were notified of a 911 hang-up call, indicating a possible assault at the same location.

Deputies then made contact with a person injured in an assault, the sheriff’s office said. While one deputy spoke with the individual, other deputies searched the residence for a male suspect. Deputies didn’t find him immediately, but they were aware of multiple abandoned houses in the surrounding area.

Deputies, along with a K9, then searched the area but were unable to locate him. While still at the scene, a deputy saw a man run back into the residence and barricade himself inside. The Randall County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was activated to assist.

After several hours, Douglas Ross was arrested and taken to the Randall County Jail on three on-view charges, assault causing bodily injury – family member, interference with emergency request for assistance, and evading arrest or detention.
