Lubbock’s iconic Santa Land Christmas village is in full swing and celebrating its 69th anniversary through Dec. 21 in Mackenzie Park.
Visitors can stop by daily from 6 to 10 p.m. at 600 Cesar E. Chavez Drive. Parks and Recreation brings this annual event to the children and families of West Texas at no charge.
The event traditionally features some live music, snack and photos booths as well as gas heaters to stay warm.
The Christmas village, which opened on Dec. 8 this year, features dozens of displays decked out with thousands of lights, decorations and backdrops perfect for selfies.
Those displays range from the traditional – including Santa Land’s longstanding nativity scene and Elves Toy Shop – to more contemporary offerings showing characters from movies like “Coco,” “Frozen” and popular superheroes from DC and Marvel.
