Longhorns football extends offer to 2028 recruit Chance Archangel

As the Texas Longhorns continue to build for the future, they have already set their eyes on the 2028 class. On Friday, Steve Sarkisian and his staff extended an offer to Chance Archangel. Although the three-star recruit is not expected to make a decision anytime soon, Texas is making its interest clear early on in the recruiting process.

While the Longhorns would get a boost with Archangel in the mix, they will face competition. The Louisiana native has also received offers from Baylor, Houston, Miami, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State. Over the next few months, that list could continue to grow as programs put more focus on 2028 and beyond.

Although the Westgate High star is still years away from making his collegiate debut, he has already stood out to scouts. Currently, Archangel is ranked as the 10th best EDGE in his class by 247Sports composite. They also rank him as the 92nd best player in the nation and the second best player from Louisiana. With plenty of room to play, that is not a bad place for the New Iberia native to be.

When it comes to the 2028 class, Texas has wasted no time identifying players they think would be a good fit. The Longhorns have also made offers to four-star recruits Brysen Wright, Jaylen Addai, Braxton Rein, Jamarios Canton, King Pitts, and Jackson Vaughn. Adding any of those players would give the Longhorns a brighter future.

For Texas, the focus will now be on getting Archangel to campus for a visit. He has already made an unofficial visit to Texas A&M, according to 247Sports. If the Longhorns can get him to the Forty Acres, they will be able to show the talented EDGE what his future as a Longhorn could hold.

As Archangel’s recruitment continues to ramp up, the Longhorns will be a program to watch.
