A new splash pad is opening soon in San Angelo. Here’s what we know about the grand opening.
The City of San Angelo is inviting the public to celebrate the official opening of the new Kirby Park splash pad at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 at Kirby Park, 1402 Edmund Blvd.
This is the second of two new splash pads made possible through the fundraising leadership of All-Tex Irrigation.
The first splash pad opened at 3245 Vista Del Arroyo Drive last summer.
“Their efforts raised nearly $875,000 – the majority from private donations and community fundraising – to construct splash pads at both Kirby Park and Unidad Park,” according to a release from the city. “This amount does not include more than $150,000 of in-kind contributions of labor and materials provided by local partners. Art in Uncommon Places contributed custom benches to enhance the splash pad environment.”
The Kirby splash pad will be open for the summer season noon to 8 p.m. daily. The Unidad Park splash pad hours will remain 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“Please note that due to ongoing construction on 29th Street and Edmund Boulevard, traffic near the park is reduced to one lane in each direction,” according to the release.
Attendees are encouraged to use caution when entering or exiting the park driveway.
“The City extends its appreciation to All-Tex Irrigation, the San Angelo Area Foundation, Art in Uncommon Places, and the many generous donors who made this community amenity possible,” the release stated.
