Kickin' it new school, Texas High School Rodeo Finals returns

The buck stops here for the next week. The Texas High School Rodeo Association’s annual Finals Rodeo returns to the Taylor County Expo Center Thursday.

Packing a full schedule and running until June 13, the first week opens with Reined Cow Horse events in the First Financial Pavilion and then boys and girls Cutting inside the Guitar Arena. That action will continue until Saturday with the Cutting and Reined Cow Horse State Champion Awards presentation at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Telecom Arena.

Miss THSRA will be presented at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Taylor Telecom Arena following a trades and college fair in the AEP Texas Big Country Hall. The day will conclude with Classic Equine Jackpots at 7 p.m. in the First Financial Pavilion.

Rodeo action begins early on Monday with Grand Entry at 7:45 p.m. in the Taylor Telecom Arena. Immediately following will be the first rodeo performances of the week.

Grand Entry returns at 1:45 p.m. in the arena with second go-round rodeo performances following immediately after. That basic scheduling pattern will continue through the rest of the week with some minor variation, visit TaylorCountyExpoCenter.org and click on Equine Events in the menu bar for a look at the full schedule.

Admission is free up to Sunday, then $7 for adults and $4 for children for daily 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. performances. Ticketed finals on June 12 are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Weeklong wristbands providing entrance to all rodeo performances are $60 for adults and $40 for children.
