Fresh off a 10-7 season, the Texans are looking to secure their first AFC conference title after a busy offseason, which saw a change at left tackle and at the wide receiver spot. Is this the year where Houston goes from good to great in the AFC behind Buffalo, Kansas City and Baltimore?

Here’s everything we saw from Day 2 of practice.

Rookie turning heads with the 2s

Jaylin Noel might have a role on the offense this upcoming season if he keeps making plays. The speedy Iowa State target just evaded three defenders for a 20-plus yard gain during team drills on the second-team offense.

Cyclones teammate Jayden Higgins is expected to start opposite Nico Collins, but Noel and Christian Kirk could be competiting for reps in the slot.

A quick look at Speed

Linebacker E.J. Speed, who signed a one-year deal this offseason to join Houston, appears ready to compete with Henry To’oTo’o for first-team reps as the team’s weakside linebacker. He’s coming off a promising season with the Colts after totaling 142 tackles, seven tackles for losses and five pass deflections. His 93 solo stops were tied for third-most in the league. Speed also has six forced fumbles during his time in Indy.

A new starting five on the offensive line

Unlike yesterday, Tay Ersery is moving over to the left tackle spot in place of Cam Robinson. Former second-round pick Blake Fisher is starting with the first-team Thursday at right tackle.

Welcome to practice, gents!

Still no LB Chrisitan Harris

While the Texans elected not to put Harris on the PUP list to begin training camp, Thursday marks the second day of practice where the fourth-year linebacker hasn’t participated in drills. Entering a contract year, Harris missed a majority of last season with a hip/calf injury.

“Come out here, work hard, be the best version of yourself each day. Don’t put any timetables on it,” Texans GM Nick Caserio said Wednesday. “Christian has played a lot of good snaps for us here. Whenever he’s ready to play and help the team, that’s the focus.”
