High school football: Windthorst's Belcher, Archer City's Truette lead 41 on Honor Roll

Week 5 of the high school football season saw multiple teams from the Wichita Falls area start district play.

And with more meaningful games comes more meaningful performances.

Here are five athletes who stood out among the 38 players who qualified for the Week 5 Honor Roll.

Brock Belcher, QB, Windthorst

Belcher was in prime form during a 69-7 blowout of Seymour, passing for 428 yards and seven TDs — the latter stat being a program record. Belcher completed passes to 10 different receivers with five catching at least one TD pass.

Also earning a mention is tailback Hunter Anderle, who had 138 total yards and four TDs.

Jamari Dean, WR, Memorial

Dean had his best performance of the season, catching seven passes for 202 yards and three TDs in a 42-27 loss to Abilene Cooper. The Mavericks will need another strong performance from Dean and the offense as they try to rally from the district-opening defeat against Amarillo Palo Duro on Oct. 3.

Wyatt Gavit, QB, Jacksboro

Gavit had the passing game churning with 357 yards and four TDs in a 62-13 blowout of Burkburnett. Isaac Wesson was his top target with 116 yards and two TDs.

Kase Dennis deserves mention here, putting up points on offense and defense by returning an interception and punt for scores.

Colt Taylor, RB, Graham

Taylor provided the type of big-play ability Graham had been missing in its running game, blasting Lake Worth for 187 yards and three TDs on just six carries in a 35-10 victory against Lake Worth.

Seth Truette, QB, Archer City

Truette is only a QB here by position title. He more resembled a throwback to a single-wing halfback, carrying the ball 41 times and rushing for 271 yards and three TDs in a 44-37 victory against Munday. On defense, Truette added three tackles and a sack.

Shareginald Williams, WR/DB, Olney

Williams made a difference on both sides of the ball for the Cubs, catching a TD on offense and returning a fumble for a score on defense. The sophomore also had three tackles and two interceptions.

Lee Yeley, SB, Saint Jo

The senior spreadback continues to put up video game numbers on a weekly basis. Most recently, he accounted for 289 yards from scrimmage with four TDs while passing for 156 yards and two more scores in a 68-55 victory against Lometa.
