The week opened chilly and blustery in Corpus Christi — but that won’t hold.
The morning of March 16 ushered in a blast of cold air and wind after several warm days, bringing with it a red flag warning in effect through the early evening and a wind advisory expected to be in effect through early afternoon, according to a forecast posted online by the local office of the National Weather Service.
Winds were expected to be sustained between 20 mph and 30 mph, with powerful gusts reaching as much as 45 mph and temperatures topping out at a high of lower 60s.
A cold night is also likely ahead — overnight lows expected to drop to the mid-40s, according to the NWS site.
But the cooler weather will be short-lived, the forecast shows. The lows overnight from March 17 to March 18 are forecast in the lower 50s, daytime highs climbing to the mid-70s on March 18 and the lower 80s on March 19.
