From popping fireworks to shows, here’s everything to know about the Fourth of July in San Angelo this year.
Fireworks
Fireworks season will go through midnight July 4. The city of San Angelo and the police department want to remind the public about fireworks laws.
Shooting or possessing fireworks inside or within 5,000 feet of city limits is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a maximum fine of $2,000. To report illegal fireworks, please contact the nonemergency police dispatch number at 325-657-4315.
Here are some tips to keep you safe if you’re using small fireworks like sparklers or shooting from outside city limits.
Lake Nasworthy parks
Day passes to Middle Concho and Spring Creek parks at Lake Nasworthy are available at their respective entry gates for $5 per vehicle. Camping permits cost $10 per day. Entry and camping permits can be purchased at the parks’ entrances. Camping permits can also be purchased at Spring Creek Marina in Spring Creek Park.
Fireworks displays
A Star-Spangled Banner Concert and Fireworks — July 3
Location: Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial River Stage, 16 E. Ave. A
The show will begin at 7 p.m. There will be live entertainment featuring the San Angelo Community Band and 12 Mile.
The fireworks will begin approximately 45 minutes after sunset, around 9:35 p.m., following a cannon blast from Fort Concho that signals the start of the 1812 Overture.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture will be synchronized with a fireworks display and cannon fire from Fort Concho’s artillery stationed across the Concho River.
General admission is free, and seating in the grass or bleacher areas is first-come, first-served starting when gates open at noon.
This year, coolers are allowed inside the RiverStage. However, no glass containers are allowed, and no alcohol is allowed inside the coolers.
