Fresh Faces on the Forty: Freshman S Yahiem Riley

As this series comes to the finish line, the potential is not waning at all. Yahiem Riley, like every player in this series but Laurence Seymore and our subject tomorrow, is already on campus and ready to roll for spring practice. The 96th ranked safety in the country comes in after an illustrious career, playing basketball and running track along with shining on the gridiron. The safety room is in need of quality depth and Riley will have every chance to fill that void.

Highschool Stats: 155 tackles, 9 TFLs, 7 INTs, 5 offensive TDs in two seasons

Riley comes in as a true developmental piece in this class. He’ll have a chance to sit behind Jelani McDonald, Xavier Filsaime and Derek Williams Jr. and find his footing early. He and Toray Davis will not have much expected of them early but the potential and versatility is real. Riley is a strong run defender and pass rusher from the secondary and could be the Longhorns future at safety, like former Longhorn and Riley’s friend Andrew Mukuba.

Yahiem Riley was one of the early commitments Texas got in the 2026 cycle. Tomorrow, we will go from the first to the last. DL Elijah Ali, the final addition to the Longhorns class, will represent the penultimate edition of “Fresh Faces on the Forty”. The Longhorns didn’t offer the Downey, California product until late January and got a commitment/signing just days later.
