We all knew it wouldn’t take long for Jace LaViolette to settle into professional pitching, and now the rest of the Midwest League is seeing it too. The Texas A&M home run record holder picked up his first major recognition of the season on Monday, earning Midwest League Player of the Week honors after a dominant run at the plate.
LaViolette has extended his hitting streak to seven games, and for the first time this year, he’s launched home runs in back‑to‑back games, bringing his season total to eight. During this surge, he’s added two doubles and three multi‑hit performances, showcasing the blend of power and contact that made him one of the most feared hitters in college baseball.
It’s a remarkable turnaround from his slow start, and while he now looks every bit like a player trending toward a promotion, the organization will likely want to see this level of consistency sustained beyond a single week. If he continues producing at anything close to this pace over the next week or two, a move to Double‑A becomes more than realistic; it becomes expected.
LaViolette is heating up, and the league is officially on notice.
