Flix Brewhouse expands in Texas, El Paso becomes first city with 3 locations

The four new Flix Brewhouse locations in Texas, including the El Paso locations, are expected to open on Feb. 23 in time for the release of “Scream 7.”

The two former Alamo Drafthouse theaters in El Paso, formerly run by Triple Tap Ventures, along with ones in Lubbock and Katy, Texas, total four acquired theaters, announced this week. The theaters are undergoing a rebranding.

Pre-sale tickets for “Scream 7” will be available starting February 13 on the Flix website.

El Paso will have the most Flix locations with the acquisition of the two Alamo Drafthouse theaters; however, managers said the process has been planned for about a year.

“We love El Paso. El Paso is the only city in America with three Flix (locations). Albuquerque is a close second with two. You could say technically in Dallas we have two, but they’re neither of them in Dallas, both of them on the opposite ends of the spectrum from each other,” said Chance Robertson, chief executive officer of Flix Brewhouse.

The new Flix Brewhouse locations are in West El Paso at Monecillo, East El Paso off Joe Battle Boulevard and Pellicano Drive, at La Centerra in Cinco Ranch in Katy, and on Loop 289 Northwest in Lubbock.

The transaction marks a strategic expansion for Flix Brewhouse, increasing its national footprint from 11 to 15 locations and 129 screens across six states. With these additions, El Paso becomes the first city nationwide to host three Flix Brewhouse locations, underscoring the company’s continued growth across Texas.

“This acquisition is a natural extension of who we are and what we believe in,” Robertson said. “Cinema success today means creating better experiences. We’re grateful to the entire Triple Tap team for their work in cultivating these moviegoing communities, and we’re honored to carry that legacy forward.”

Robertson said the new El Paso theaters will not have on-site beer brewing. They will be supplied by the original Flix Brewhouse, at 6450 Desert Blvd N., which opened in 2019.

“I think for El Paso specifically, you know, we opened in 2019, our first location there and it has just been a big success for us. We do love the market … and I think that when we looked at this opportunity, there’s enough distance between these three locations that we couldn’t say no,” Robertson said.

He added that having three will allow more people in El Paso to become familiar with the movie theater chain.

“There are other folks that perhaps weren’t able to visit us as often because they didn’t live close, and now they hopefully do. So that’s the best I can say. But we’re excited to have three and I’m excited to get there later this week and meet the teams,” he said.

Guests can expect premium presentation, seat-side hospitality, a craveable menu, and award-winning craft beer recognized at the Great American Beer Festival, the World Beer Cup, and the Best of Craft Beer Awards.

Flix also offers mobile ordering and payment via guests’ phones while maintaining full-service support.
