Five-star offensive tackle names Texas Tech a top school

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are continuing to add to their 2027 recruiting class, which is among the best in the country, but they are also laying the foundation for their future recruiting classes. They do not currently have a player committed in the 2028 recruiting cycle, but they received some great news on Thursday about one of their top targets.

Five-star offensive tackle Austin Attalah announced that the Red Raiders are one of the top eight schools in his recruitment. They are battling the Alabama Crimson Tide, Cal Golden Bears, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Longhorns, and USC Trojans for him.

Attalah is from San Bernardino, California, and it did not take Texas Tech long to become one of his top schools. They extended the 6-foot-8, 270-pounder a scholarship offer on April 29 and are now one of the final eight schools in his recruitment, despite him not yet visiting the campus.

Attalah is ranked as the No. 30 overall player and No. 3 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 1 player from California.

The Red Raiders have done an excellent job recruiting the trenches under head coach Joey McGuire, and Attalah would be a massive addition to their class if they can close on his recruitment. While they signed two four-star offensive linemen in the 2026 cycle, they have never signed a five-star offensive lineman.
