Wichita Falls residents may now apply to run for a spot on the Wichita Falls City Council in the Nov. 2 election. The filing period will run through Aug. 17.

According to the City Clerk’s Office, candidates must be at least 21, be a qualified candidate who has lived in Wichita Falls for the past 12 months and have lived in the district they wish to represent for 12 months if they are running for a City Council seat. They must not be mentally incapacitated or have a standing conviction on a felony crime.
The clerk’s office also said applicants must include a $100 filing fee or a petition signed by at least 50 qualified voters.
Residents may apply at the City Clerk’s Office, 719 Scott Avenue.
The last day to register to vote in the election will be Oct. 5.
Early voting will be Oct.19-30.
