Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies have landed another top target in their 2027 recruiting, this time on special teams. Elite kicker Andres von der Meden announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Monday.
Meden is ranked as the No. 1 kicker in the country by Kohl’s Kicking, which specializes in evaluating kickers and punters. He also had scholarship offers from the Ole Miss Rebels, Houston Cougars, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Arkansas Razorbacks.
He is from Tomball, Texas, and is the eighth in-state target that the Aggies have landed. He officially visited Texas A&M over the weekend, and it did not take him long to go ahead and pull the trigger on his commitment.
He had a productive junior season at Tomball High School, where he kicks and punts. He averaged 62.6 yards per kickoff, with 23 of 37 going for touchbacks. He was a perfect 25-of-25 on extra points and 4-of-6 on field goals, making a long of 43 yards. His punts averaged 38.2 yards with a season-long of 55, with two being downed inside the 20-yard line.
His addition only strengthens Texas A&M’s recruiting class, which now has 20 members and is still the No. 1-ranked class in the country. He is the third player they have committed who is ranked as the best prospect at his position, joining five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews and five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey.
