El Paso police made 125 arrests in a warrant sweep targeting drunken driving, traffic violations and other related charges, officials said.
The coordinated three-day roundup took place May 20-22, involving all six of the police regional commands, traffic officers assigned to headquarters, and the Special Traffic Investigations Unit, El Paso Police Department spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo said.
El Paso police reported the operation resulted in 125 arrests related to:
“Operations like these support the El Paso Police Department’s ongoing commitment to traffic safety and the shared goal of zero traffic fatalities throughout the city,” Oviedo said in a video news release.
The roundup was part of the ongoing “Enough is Enough” heightened anti-DWI enforcement announced by El Paso Police Chief Peter Pacillas, along with Mayor Renard Johnson and District Attorney James Montoya at the start of the year.
Runner sought in Dollar Tree robbery
El Paso police are seeking to identify a man suspected of robbing a Dollar Tree store in the Northeast.
The robbery occurred about 5:50 p.m. on May 18 at the Dollar Tree at 5616 Dyer St. across the street from the Walmart store near Fred Wilson Avenue, Crime Stoppers of El Paso said in a “Crime Alert” issued on Wednesday, June 3.
Details on the robbery and what was stolen were not disclosed due to the ongoing investigation. A robbery is a theft involving a threat, injury or the use of violence. It is a second-degree felony in Texas.
The unidentified man was wearing a gray shirt stating “Texas” in white letters across the back above an image of mountains, as well as orange shorts, white sneakers, sunglasses and a blue baseball cap.
The man was last seen running south toward McConnell Avenue.
