An El Paso man died after he crashed his motorcycle into another vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign, authorities said.
A 29-year-old woman was driving a 2020 Buick Encore about 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, toward the intersection of Robinson Avenue and North Mesa Street near UTEP, stated a police news release issued by El Paso Police Department spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros.
The Buick driver pulled onto Mesa Street and was T-boned by 24-year-old Cody Arthur McCuan of El Paso, the news release states. McCuan was driving a 2016 Kymco K Pipe motorcycle north on Mesa Street.
McCuan was taken to a hospital for treatment. He died at the hospital from the injuries suffered in the wreck, the news release states. The Buick driver was not injured.
El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations unit investigators determined the Buick driver failing to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign “may be a contributing factor,” in the wreck, the news release states. McCuan driving at a high rate of speed may also be a contributing factor, the news release states.
No further information was released as the crash remains under investigation. This is the 31st traffic-related death of 2025 compared to 32 at this same time last year.
