The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon will provide more information about an officer involved shooting, according to a press release from the office.
In a press release on Sunday, the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a disturbance call involving a weapon in the 5200 block of FM Road 1177 at 3:22 p.m. Saturday.
The release said when deputies arrived they found a person was barricaded and had fired several gunshots.
“After a lengthy standoff, the subject engaged with responding officers resulting in an officer involved shooting,” the release said.
The release provided no details on the shooting or any injuries or deaths that might have occurred. It said the incident is under investigation by the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, the Wichita County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Rangers.
Other agencies that responded included the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens and the Wichita Falls Police Department, the release said.
