Less than two weeks after signing with the Dallas Wings, Kyla Oldacre is looking for a new opportunity. The former Longhorns star had been battling for a roster spot but was waived by the Wings on Sunday. Now she will look to catch on with a different team and replicate her college success.
During her time in Austin, Oldacre scored 1,000 points while shooting 58 % from the field. She was also a difference-maker on the boards with 355 rebounds and 66 blocks. Regardless of the opponent, the Ohio native was hard to take out of the lineup and helped the Longhorns finish just a few wins from a national title.
In her last year as a Longhorn, Oldacre had one of her best seasons. She set a career-high in defensive rebounds with 99 while dishing out 20 assists. While her time in Dallas did not go as planned, the William Mason High Alum still has a bright future. She survived the first round of roster cuts before the Wings had to cut their roster even further, showing she made a good impression.
Now that Oldacre is back on the free agent market, teams have 48 hours to make an offer and add her to their roster. If that does not happen, the talented center could pursue options overseas. Regardless of where Oldacre ends up, she brings an impressive resume to the table.
Over the last two years, Oldacre has held her own while playing against some of the top teams in the SEC. That should appeal to teams looking for an elite rebounder who can also score in bunches. As Oldacre weighs her options over the next few weeks, she will be a player to watch.
