Most Cowboys fans would like to forget the specifics that brought defensive tackle Kenny Clark to Dallas about 54 weeks ago, since it involved trading away Micah Parsons, but Clark has been good for Dallas, as has been the other tackle the Cowboys got via trade, Quinnen Williams.
Clark has opinions on Williams, and they are quite nice. So are the opinions Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby has about Dak Prescott. And happy news kept coming, as rookie Jaishawn Barham‘s injury isn’t serious.
Dallas’ first preseason game is nearing and here is how the Cowboys are getting ready for it.
Kenny Clark, Quinnen Williams building chemistry
The first anniversary of the Micah Parsons trade is two weeks away, which will also be the one-year anniversary of Clark joining the Dallas Cowboys as part of that trade. That was three months before tackle Quinnen Williams became a Cowboys through a trade with the New York Jets.
Since then Clark and Williams have developed quite a bit of chemistry playing together, and Clark expounded on that in a feature on DallasCowboys.com.
“He’s just a dog, man,” Clark said of Williams. “He does things the right way, plays with great leverage. He’s a big guy and is able to be able to bend, got good ankle flexibility and all that kind of stuff, can play with his hands well. We’re going to need him to keep on holding those double teams, all the big guys for real, so we can have our linebackers skip over the top.”
Just how good does Clark think Williams is?
”I haven’t played with a d-tackle like that my whole career,” Clark told DallasCowboys.com. “I played with a lot of great players, but a guy that’s dominant like that at the defensive tackle position, he’s a great player. I’m looking forward to that, I hope they slide to him and I can get me some one-on-ones, and we do what it do.”
Jaishawn Barham injury not serious
The Cowboys got a scare when rookie linebacker Barham limped out of practice Thursday, but coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed the groin injury isn’t serious. He was held out of practice through Sunday and his return isn’t set, but won’t be far off.
Barham had been having an impressive training camp, wooing his versatility as a linebacker and edge rusher. The third-rounder Barham was Dallas’ third pick, after Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence were drafted in the first round.
Dallas has also gotten safety Jalen Thompson back from a minor injury sustained on the first day of training camp and he practiced over the weekend.
Maxx Crosby lauds Dak Prescott
The NFL is rolling out its top 100 players list and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott checks in at No. 31, a 48-spot improvement from a year ago. NFL.com even got Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby to weigh in on Prescott, and it turns out he’s a fan.
“Every time he’s out there, he’s in command,” Crosby said of Prescott. “If you’re a player or coach, you know how good he is. He sees everything that’s going on. He’s the highest-paid quarterback for a reason.”
NFL.com’s explainer on Prescott says this: “Not among his peers, who nominated him to the NFL Top 100 list for a seventh time, but Prescott feels underrated and underappreciated across the NFL fandom despite (or maybe due to) playing for America’s Team.
He led the NFL in completions for a second time in 2025 and has quarterbacked a top-seven scoring offense in four of the past five seasons, the outlier being a year he missed nine games. It was basically all on his shoulders last season due to an absent Dallas defense that gave up the most points in the league. Prescott nevertheless managed four fourth-quarter comebacks, over half of the Cowboys’ wins.”
Dallas Cowboys first preseason game coming up
The Cowboys open their preseason on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Seattle Seahawks. The 6 p.m. MT/7 p.m. CT start will be televised on the NFL Network. The Cowboys are at the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 22 (11 a.m. MT/noon CT kick) then close the preseason with their one home game, on Aug. 29 vs. the New Orleans Saints (10 a.m. MT/11 a.m. CT kick).

Dallas opens the semi-competitive part of its fall schedule against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 15 in their preseason opener. Here is the three-game preseason slate.
