According to the Randall County Sheriff’s Office, the Randall County Fire Department and the Canyon Fire Department were dispatched to a call at 12:19 p.m. at 9250 West Cemetery Road for a grass fire with a structure in danger.

During the course of the fire, an abandoned, dilapidated home was lost, authorities said.

The fire covered less than 10 acres and was brought under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Texas A&M Forest Service estimated the fire was about 3 acres in size.
