Cowboys Headlines: Pickens' boldest move; Prescott's latest award; preseason kickoff times

With OTAs set to start next week, several Cowboys could be looking at a critical moment in their careers. For Caleb Downs, it’s about first impressions. For Luke Schoonmaker, it could be one last chance. For Tyler Guyton and DeMarvion Overshown, it’s proving something about the future. For George Pickens, it’s an opportunity to set the narrative. His franchise tag guarantees him a nice pay raise over last year, even if it’s not where he wants to be. But there’s a very bold move he could pull right now that would completely flip the script as he seeks a monumental salary bump in 2027. How shocking would it be if Pickens simply… showed up early?

Also in Dallas, Dak Prescott brings home some new hardware that’s going to make it tough for his haters to write off, Emmitt Smith compliments the club on having their best offseason in a while by cutting the drama, and the NFL schedule-makers might have actually given the Cowboys a bonus win thanks to one under-the-radar calendar quirk.

Looking around the division, Commanders defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw goes totally NSFW trying to make a convincing argument for his unit’s improvement, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart holds a meeting with his teammates to try to hash out the locker-room beef over his controversial photo op with the president, and we go behind the headlines for a dollars-and-cents look at the nuts and bolts of an A.J. Brown trade.

Elsewhere in league news, the Josh Jacobs story gets murkier. The Packers running back has been released after his arrest, and the team isn’t yet rushing into any decision that would affect his roster status. But the investigation has now turned up audio- two 911 calls from the incident- that could loom large in the district attorney’s decision on how to proceed. Also, Von Miller is looking for a Rocky Mountain return, and Patrick Mahomes is back in action at Chiefs OTAs well ahead of schedule.
