Cowboys Headlines: No PUP for All-Pro, Jerry willing to trade top pick

The Dallas Cowboys opened training camp with their annual training camp press conference. Owner Jerry Jones, COO Stephen Jones, and head coach Brian Schottenheimer each addressed the media, sharing updates regarding the roster, offseason changes, and future contracts.

Schottenheimer announced the Cowboys will open camp with a full roster and no players starting on the PUP list. Stephen Jones also revealed the organization has held discussions with Quinnen Williams’ agent as the two sides continue working toward a new contract. However, that wasn’t the biggest takeaway from the press conference.

The headline-grabbing moment came from Jerry Jones. When asked about reports that the Cowboys walked away from a potential Maxx Crosby trade after negotiations involving the Ravens fell apart, Jones attempted to play coy but insisted Dallas never backed away from pursuing Crosby. He then added that he had spoken with another NFL owner about a possible trade. After appearing to let that information slip, Jones quickly tried to walk it back, likely hoping to avoid any potential tampering concerns.

Following a relatively quiet offseason, Jones managed to inject the Cowboys back into the national conversation with a single press conference. Whether a trade is truly being discussed or not, Dallas is back in the headlines, and Jones probably wouldn’t have it any other way.
