The Texas Tech basketball team could look very different over the next few months if the courts are in their favor.
Former Red Raiders Darrion Williams and Donovan Atwell are part of a new lawsuit filed in the state of North Carolina for players from the 2022 high school recruiting class seeking an additional year of eligibility. Williams and Atwell are among the players who played all four years of college and were not grandfathered into the NCAA’s five-for-five eligibility model that was passed and goes into effect this season.
While Williams transferred to NC State for his final year of college ball, he has been around the Texas Tech program throughout the offseason, working out with the basketball team and going to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City in support of the Red Raiders.
Atwell, who broke the Texas Tech single-season 3-point record in his lone year in Lubbock, played Summer League ball with the Chicago Bulls after going unpicked in the NBA Draft.
Texas Tech is already waiting on a ruling for transfer commit Jamichael Stillwell, who announced last week he would jump from UCF to the Red Raiders if his lawsuit goes through in the state of Florida.
