What role do data centers play in our communities, and what questions should we be asking about them?
Join Amarillo-based community and business leaders to address these concerns Thursday, May 21, in a conversation about what data centers are and aren’t, how they impact local economies and infrastructure, and what policy solutions are being considered.
The hourlong discussion will begin at noon at Amarillo College’s Innovation Outpost, 1220 South Polk St. It will explore grid reliability, water usage, community investment, and other topics, and it will include time for an audience Q&A.
This event, hosted by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, is part of a series underwritten by Google, featuring George P. Bush, CEO and managing partner of Pine Cove Strategies and former Texas Land Commissioner; Chris Matos, with Google; and Carson County Judge Dan Looten. Additional speakers will be announced soon.
Texas Tribune Editor-in-Chief Matthew Watkins will moderate.
When major investments are being considered, communities deserve to be part of the conversation from the start. A good investment is always made better with a strong community partner, and that partnership begins with an informed, open dialogue.
This event is in-person only, and RSVPs are required. Doors open at the Innovation Outpost at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and networking, and the hourlong program begins at noon.
