It’s been a busy, news-filled day for Texas A&M Aggies fans.

However, many fans were likely left questioning how badly they wanted Elko to stick around after the Aggies fell behind 30-3 in the first half vs. the Gamecocks. But after scoring 28 unanswered points in the second half and escaping with a 31-30 win, fans are back in on Elko, and happy to see that his new contract details emerged after things were finalized.

According to multiple reports, Elko’s new deal is for six years and will see him paid $11 million per year, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football.

The new deal also features an “upgraded, escalating model for assistant coaches and support staff, providing increases to salary pools and incentive structures,” per reports. Elko will also have incentives should his team make it to the College Football Playoff in the future.

Elko is 18-5 as head coach at Texas A&M since taking over ahead of the 2024 season, and their 10-0 mark is the best since 1992 in College Station.
