First Presbyterian Church, 3601 Taft Blvd.: At worship this Sunday, the Rev. Michael Hansen, senior pastor of the church, will preach from the Old Testament book of Jonah, concluding the sermon series titled “Resisting God” with a sermon titled “What Do We Do With God’s Compassion” and based on Jonah 4:1-11.
Immediately after worship on Sunday, church leadership will hold a brief, informal meeting to discuss such topics as the search for a youth/student ministry director, the current budget and alignment between the church and The Learning Center. All are invited to join the meeting and pose any questions church members may have.
A Family Cookout will be held for young families at the church Sunday beginning at 5 p.m. Each family participating is asked to bring a side dish or dessert. RSVP in the church office or to Kayla Henderson.
Congregational Life will present Family Night Supper on May 20 in Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. The event will be a taco bar. The cost is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four or more. RSVP online at myfirstpres.org or in the church office.
New Covenant Partners will be introduced to the congregation during worship on June 7. Anyone interested in becoming a Covenant Partner should contact the senior pastor in the church office or by email at michaelh@myfirstpres.org.
Vacation Bible school will be held from 9 a.m.-noon June 29 through July 1. Each day will be a new mission in which kids will gain experience in God’s Word, complete challenges and strengthen their faith and friendships. For more information, please contact Misty at misty@myfirstpres.org.
