The San Angelo Central boys and girls gymnastics teams swept the Region III titles at Odessa Permian High School on Saturday, April 11.
The Lady Bobcats, who are also seven-time state champions, earned their 25th consecutive regional title while the Bobcats earned their first regional title for the first time since 2024.

The Bobcats had a big win, earning 316.75 points across the two-day meet, which was well-above second-place Odessa High’s 295.5 points.
Carson Edwards was the all-around champion with 109.1 points, earning first on the pommel horse (16.75), rings (19), parallel bars (18.85) and horizontal bars (17.45). He was also second in the floor exercise and fourth on the vault (17.95).
Brady Stewart earned second in the all-around with 104 points, while Nic Atchison was third with 102.1 and Ayden Freeman was seventh with 95.8.
Stewart was second in the rings (18.2) and vault (18.55), third in the floor (19.1), fourth in the parallel bars (17.25) and horizontal bar (16.4), and eighth on the pommel horse (14.9).
Atchison was third in the rings (17.5), vault (18.05) and horizontal bar (16.65), fifth in the pommel horse (15.55) and parallel bars (16.65), and seventh in the floor (17.7).
Freeman finished sixth on the horizontal bar, rings (16.9) and pommel horse (15.35).
Cadyn Stuard finished third on the pommel horse (16.05) and fourth on the rings (17.4).
The Lady Bobcats edged Abilene Wylie for the Region III title, 227.15 to 223.8.
Steely Young narrowly missed the gold in the all-around category, finishing in second behind El Paso Bel Air’s Abigayle Gonzales. Her 75.4 points were .25 behind Gonzalez’s 75.65. Allison Garnett finished third behind Young in the all-around with a score of 75.35 points and Ava Bedard was fifth with 74.4 points.
Young won the balance beam (19.4), earned second in the floor (19.45), was fourth on vault (18.7) and sixth on uneven bars (17.85).
Garnett won the uneven bars (19.3) and floor (19.5), placed fifth on vault (18.5) and ninth on the balance beam (18.05), while Bedard won the vault (19.1) and was fourth on the uneven bars (18.65).
Serena Lopez had a second-place finish in floor (19.45) and was third on the balance beam (18.95), while Mila Morrison was seventh in the uneven bars (17.8), Michal Mock placed seventh on vault (18.2) and Isabella Negovetich finished eighth on floor (19).
The state meet will be held at Odessa Permian High School on April 24-25, where the Lady Cats will look for their eighth consecutive title and the Bobcats will aim for their first since 2015.
