A preliminary investigation showed both the patrol unit and a passenger vehicle were traveling south on Coulter when the passenger vehicle struck the rear of the patrol unit, causing both vehicles to spin out of control.

APD said an officer was taken to a local hospital, treated for their injuries and later released.

Investigators believe the driver of the passenger vehicle was intoxicated.

Micah Glenn Lacy, 28, was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail on a charge for intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, after they were medically cleared at a local hospital.

APD said the investigation remains ongoing.
