A 35-year-old Alice man was sentenced to more than 22 years for knowingly and intentionally possessing meth with the intent to distribute it via a commercial carrier service.
Acting U.S. Attorney John G.E. Marck announced the sentencing in a news release on April 2.

Scott Garza pleaded guilty to the crime on Dec. 30, 2025. He will serve 265 months in federal prison to be immediately followed by five years of supervised release.
On Aug. 7, 2025, law enforcement identified an international package shipped from Mexico destined for an addess in Alice. An X-ray examination and K-9 alert resulted in the discovery of 10 clay bricks, which each contained meth mixed within the clay material, the news release said.
The investigation led to Garza, who had traveled to an abandoned house to pick up the package, which he later opened at his home, according to the news release.
The drugs had a total weight of nearly 8 kilograms with an estimated street value of $160,000.
Authorities conducted a search at Garza’s residence, where they found additional narcotics, including distributable quantities of cocaine, meth, Xanax tablets, marijuana, synthetic marijuana and three firearms.
Garza, who was previously on bond, was taken into custody after the sentencing, where he will remain pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
