A teenager was killed in a crash early Sunday morning, the Abilene Police Department said in a media.
First responders were dispatched to the 6500 block of West Lake Road for a major crash at 12:52 a.m. Sunday, the APD said. The SUV was occupied by five people at the time of the wreck.
Four of them were transported to the local hospital for treatment, and one was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Michael Menjares, 17, of Abilene was killed in the crash, the APD said.
The police investigation found the SUV was traveling south in the 6500 block of West Lake Road when it began to swerve right, the APD said. As the RAV4 went to the right, the vehicle entered a grass drainage ditch and began to roll over.
Intoxication does not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said. The APD Traffic Division is conducting a follow-up investigation.
