Abilene Christian soared up the rankings in the latest edition of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll following its third consecutive win in United Athletic Conference play.
The Wildcats improved to 4-3 this season after a dominant 30-13 road victory against the then-No. 21 West Georgia Wolves, jumping to 3-0 in UAC play so far this year.
ACU — which entered its Week 7 game against West Georgia ranked No. 19 — shot up nine spots in the rankings after its win over the Wolves, climbing up to No. 13 in the newest version of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 released Monday.
Abilene Christian debuted at No. 16 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll prior to the start of this season.
ACU’s victory over West Georgia also gave the Wildcats their third win of the year against a ranked FCS opponent.
Abilene Christian also secured wins over ranked FCS opponents with victories against then 23rd-ranked Stephen F. Austin in a non-conference clash and then 20th-ranked Austin Peay in its UAC conference opener.
The Wildcats’ UAC conference schedule will feature at least one more regular-season game against a ranked opponent when ACU hosts No. 3 Tarleton State on Saturday, Nov. 1.
No. 13 Abilene Christian (4-3, 3-0) will return to action and resume its UAC conference slate this week when the Wildcats battle the Southern Utah Thunderbirds (1-5, 0-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at University Stadium in Cedar City, Utah.
