Something big is coming to Cuyahoga Falls this spring.
Really, really big.
What is billed as the “World’s Largest Rubber Duck” will be the centerpiece of the Ohio Rubber Duck Dash Festival set to be held in April.
The downtown festival planned for April 24-26 will feature a variety of activities, including a race of small rubber ducks.
The event is being organized by juniors and seniors from six Greater Akron school districts who are part of the two-year EntrepreNEW business program at Woodridge.
The districts include Stow, Tallmadge, Kent, Hudson, Cuyahoga Falls, and Woodridge.
“This is real-world learning happening in real time,” said instructor Emily Kilgore. “Students are not just participating, they are leading. They are pitching sponsors, building marketing campaigns, managing logistics and collaborating with professional partners across the city.”

Kaylee Piper, executive director of the Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Partnership, said it has been fun working with the students to pull off such a big event.
“This weekend highlights what is possible when education, local government, nonprofits and businesses work together,” Piper said. “We are investing in students while creating meaningful opportunities for businesses and visitors.”

Facts about the giant rubber duck
Dubbed Mama Duck, the inflated giant duck made her debut in Los Angeles in 2014 and travels to festivals and special events across the country.
When it is fully inflated, the duck stands some six stories high and is 64 feet wide and 74 feet long.
