One passenger died in a two-vehicle collision between a car and a pickup truck in Ballville Township on Aug. 17.
A press release from the Fremont post of the Ohio Highway Patrol stated that around 3:32 p.m., a 2004 Saturn ION, operated by Dylon Sinley, 23, of Seville, was driving north on Ohio 53 when he failed to yield when turning left and was struck by a 2019 GMC Sierra, operated by Angela Ebbing, 59, of Troy.
Nacole Bartolet, a 20-year-old passenger in the Saturn, of Whitehouse, Ohio, died from her injuries at the scene.
Sinley and one of his passengers, Leia McIntire, 22, of Wooster, sustained serious injuries and were transported by ground ambulance to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
Ebbing and her passenger, Michael Ebbing, 64, also from Troy, were transported to ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of Aug. 18, Highway Patrol Sgt. Matt Davis said that medical conditions have not changed and no charges have been filed “due to the medical situation.”
Davis said that if any charges are filed, they will be determined by the Sandusky County prosecutor.
The crash remains under investigation. Davis said that witness statements are still being gathered as the reconstruction unit investigates.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky County EMS, Ballville Township Fire Department, Sandusky County Coroner’s Office and Madison Motors.
