WLWT-TV (Channel 5) is welcoming a new face.
Meteorologist Sabrina Bates is joining the WLWT News 5 weather team, the station announced Dec. 16. Starting in January, Bates will anchor weather on weekend evenings and will report during the week, per a press release.
Bates, a native of the Chicago area, is a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana. Before coming to Cincinnati, the Emmy-winning meteorologist worked at WLWT’s sister station KOCO-TV (Channel 5) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
While at KOCO, Bates covered several major weather events, including a historic ice storm, wildfires and, most recently, a large tornado outbreak that produced two EF4 tornadoes.
“I’m thrilled to join the incredibly talented team at WLWT and to return to the Midwest. The people and culture here are unmatched, and I couldn’t be happier to call Cincinnati and the Tri-State my new home,” Bates said in the release.
