The Crew are back at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field Aug. 19 for an MLS match against interim coach Laurent Courtois’ previous club, CF Montreal.
After clinching a quarterfinal spot against Club America in the 2026 Leagues Cup, the Crew lost 3-1 to Charlotte FC in their first game back to MLS competition. Charlotte quickly climbed to a 2-0 lead after goals in the first and ninth minutes, with the Crew giving up a costly penalty kick to Liel Abada on the latter goal.
Despite the loss, 18-year-old Crew forward Chase Adams became the youngest player to score for the Crew when he converted on a header in the 41st minute. It was the first goal of Adams’ MLS career.
At 11th in the Eastern Conference standings, the Crew face Montreal, who are 14th with a 4-5-10 record. Before returning to the Crew organization as an assistant, Courtois coached Montreal in 2024 and a portion of the 2025 season, making the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in 2024.
Courtois also coached striker Josef Martinez at Montreal. Martinez joined the Crew after finalizing a contract on Aug. 12.
