Two of the biggest prospects in Greater Akron have been quite busy on the recruiting road, so the Beacon Journal thought it would be a good time to check in on Hoban’s Brayton Feister and Brydon Feister.
Brayton is a 6-foot-3, 240-pound four-star recruit in the Class of 2027 and is being looked at as both a running back and linebacker. He is the No. 10 athlete in the country and is ranked the No. 5 player regardless of position in Ohio.
Brydon is a 6-3, 210-pound athlete and will likely have similar rankings when they begin ranking the Class of 2028.

What has the recruiting process been like?
Brayton: The recruiting process has been incredible for me. I’ve been blessed with many great opportunities and more to come. It stays pretty exciting but can become exhausting talking to so many different people and trying to stay energized, especially receiving text/phone calls at night while I’m trying to sleep.
Brydon: My recruiting process has been slow but exciting. I’ve liked how the coaches all have different ways of doing things. Nothing has really been copy-and-paste.
What does the immediate future look like?
Brayton: I’m taking the month of January to finish talking to schools. In February, I’ll build a top 10-15 then in March visit the ones I haven’t been to. I’ll take official visits in April and then make a decision for the next 3-4 years of my life.
Brydon: The dead period started Monday. Arizona State came again on Tuesday and Wednesday was Oregon. Cal was Thursday and Friday was Notre Dame. Ohio State offered in school on Thursday. The week before that, we talked to Arizona State, Penn State and Michigan.
What is the pressure of the recruiting process like?
Brayton: The pressure comes when you have so many great choices and build so many great relationships but don’t want to make the wrong choice in a college.
Brydon: I don’t feel much pressure. I pretty much go with what I’m feeling.
What schools have stuck out and why?
Brayton: Oregon has stuck out the most. The way their coaching staff prepares and makes sure the guys have everything they need before a game to play great is insane!
Brydon: The Oregon Ducks’ staff and team are what stuck out to me. There’s a bond there that I don’t know if most teams have nowadays.
When do you guys want to commit and why then?
Brayton: I plan on it around April after the official visits. It just seems like an appropriate time.
Brydon: I’m not planning on any type of commitment until maybe my senior year. Right now, I think it would be early in the senior season, but I just want to let this process really play out and go as far as possible because I feel like if I don’t see everywhere, then how will I know where I fit best?
