Where Cleveland Guardians sit in AL wild-card standings after Tuesday games?

The Guardians opened a series in Detroit, Sept. 16-18, alive in the playoff race as the regular season enters its final two weeks. A 7-5 win by the Guardians in 10 innings Tuesday, Sept. 16 did nothing to hurt their chances.

After following a 10-game losing streak with one of their hottest stretches of the season, the Guardians overcame roadblocks, such as the loss of closer Emmanuel Clase and starting pitcher Luis Ortiz, to an ongoing Major League Baseball gambling investigation.

Still, the Guardians played their best baseball to begin September, winning 10 times in a 11-game span that kept them in the race for one of the three wild card spots. They enter Wednesday, Sept. 17 sitting 2.5 games back of the last spot.
