Westerville resident Jason Day commits to playing the Memorial

Westerville resident Jason Day is returning to the Memorial Tournament after missing last year’s event with a wrist injury. The tournament, which runs June 4-7, announced that Day and eight more players have committed to the PGA Tour signature event held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin.

Day, a member at Muirfield Village, withdrew from the 2025 Memorial with wrist soreness, only the second time he has missed the tournament since his first appearance in 2008. The 2015 PGA Championship winner whose best finish in Dublin is a tie for fourth in 2020, is ranked 42nd in the world. He has made 10 of 12 cuts this season, with two top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at The American Express in January.

Joining Day in the field, the Memorial announced, will be No. 3-ranked Cameron Young, No. 9 J.J. Spaun, No. 10 Chris Gotterup, No. 12 Russell Henry, No. 13 Ludvig Aberg, No. 26 Akshay Bhatia, No. 40 Shane Lowry and No. 50 Adam Scott.

Day, Spaun, Lowry and Scott have all won major championships.

The Memorial has seven of the top-10 ranked players in the world scheduled to tee off June 4, including No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, seeking his third consecutive Memorial title, and No. 2 Rory McIlroy. The three missing are No. 4 Matt Fitzpatrick, No. 5 Justin Rose, who won the 2010 Memorial, and No. 6 Collin Morikawa, who is struggling with back pain.

Tournament tickets can still be purchased through May 29 by visiting www.memorialtickets.com or by contacting the tournament ticket office 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 877-682-2343. Tickets start at $20 for the Any One Day Practice Round Ticket, valid for practice rounds Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
