A busy bridge to the west side of Cincinnati will see daytime closures starting Monday, May 11.
The double-decker Western Hills Viaduct will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, May 15 for for Duke Energy maintenance work.
Both decks will close and ramps from both north and south Interstate 75 will be closed during those hours as well.
Officials said could reopen earlier if the work is completed ahead of schedule.
Closures will return from Tuesday, May 19, through Friday, May 22.
Cincinnati has been talking about fixing the aging but vital Western Hills Viaduct since it was declared “functionally obsolete” in 2007. A single-deck replacement is in the works. The new bridge is expected to open by 2031. Demolition of the existing one will follow in either 2032, in its 100th year of service, or partway through 2033.
