SALEM TOWNSHIP ‒ A West Lafayette woman has died from injuries she received in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 36 on May 13.
Judy K. Mizer, 83, a passenger in one of the vehicles, died on June 7, according to the New Philadelphia post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at around 5 p.m. on U.S. 36 at the entrance ramp to Interstate 77.
According to an announcement, Judy Mizer’s husband, Ralph E., 85, was traveling northeast on US 36 in the right lane operating a gray 2015 Ford Fusion. Judy Mizer was a passenger in the vehicle.
Jonathon N. Engle, 26, of Cambridge, was driving a red 2013 Chevrolet Malibu traveling southwest on U.S. 36, attempting to turn left onto the southbound entrance ramp for Interstate 77. Engle failed to yield while making the left turn and was struck on the passenger side by the Mizer’s vehicle.
Engle sustained minor injuries during the crash. He was transported from the scene by Tri-County EMS to Genesis Coshocton Medical Center.
The Mizers were initially transported from the scene to Genesis Coshocton Medical Center by Tri-County EMS. The injuries sustained by both Mizers were life-threatening and they were transferred to the intensive care unit at Akron General Hospital. Judy Mizer died at the hospital from the injuries received during the crash. The condition of Ralph Mizer is unknown at this time.
