Showers and thunderstorms will be possible through Thursday, June 19. Then, drier weather is expected on Friday, June 20, with warmer and more humid conditions expected during the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, showers and thunderstorms are expected on Monday, June 16. Some storms may produce heavy rainfall, especially during the evening and overnight hours. Localized flooding will be possible.
Highs will generally be around 80 degrees.
Storms are also likely to continue on Tuesday, June 17. More organized thunderstorms are forecast for Wednesday, June 18, into Thursday, June 19. Some severe storms will be possible. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats.
Wednesday is forecast to be the warmest day of the work week, with heat indices in the mid- to upper 90s. Daytime highs on Thursday will be in the lower to mid-80s.
Drier conditions and clearer skies will settle into the area on Friday, June 20. Highs will once again be in the low to mid-80s.
Mostly clear skies and above-normal temperatures will be on tap this weekend. Heat indices may also approach the mid-90s on Saturday, June 21 and the upper 90s on Sunday, June 22.
