Water rescue crews search for missing kayaker, police say

NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (WXIX) – Rescue crews responded to the Ohio River Thursday to search for a reported missing kayaker, police said.

Clermont County dispatchers confirmed first responders were called to the river just off U.S. Route 52 in New Richmond at about 4:30 p.m.

Several rescue boats are roaming the area between Mile Markers 446 and 449.

Police said crews are using sonar to locate the missing kayaker.

According to New Richmond Fire and EMS, multiple mutual aid agencies are at the scene.

Crews advise drivers to avoid the area.
