“Our priority now is supporting our residents, families, and employees with individualized support throughout this transition,” said UC Health spokesperson Alex Lolli in an emailed statement on Thursday, July 30.

Currently, Bridgeway Pointe has about 50 residents and employs roughly 70 people. Lolli said UC Health will provide resources and guidance to help residents find different assisted living options and that employees will be given priority consideration for other available UC Health positions.

The decision comes roughly a year after the closing of the Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care, which impacted over 400 employees and stripped the community of more than 200 patient beds.

Lolli said the organization spent the past year looking for other options to ensure Bridgeway Pointe had a future, including third-party operation or a change in ownership.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to identify a sustainable path to continue operating the facility long term,” Lolli said.

The statement cited a need to focus UC Health resources on meeting the needs of patients and the community as reason for closure.
