A 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were arrested and charged with multiple counts after a woman was unintentionally shot on June 18 in Akron’s Firestone neighborhood.
Akron police responded to a shooting report on the 800 block of Palmetto Avenue at about 2:33 p.m. on Wednesday after dispatchers received multiple 911 calls for shots fired in that area, according to a news release.
When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old woman shot in the leg. She was transported to Summa Akron City Hospital.
Officers learned that the two suspects fled to an apartment in the 1200 block of Virginia Avenue, where they were arrested. They were charged with carrying concealed weapons, discharging firearms, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation and discharging a firearm on or over a roadway.
Investigators found two firearms with extended magazines at the apartment and recovered nearly two dozen shell casings from the scene.
Detectives believe the two suspects were shooting with other, unidentified individuals.
